How we are managing phase 3 and the increase in omicron

With the number of COVID-19 community cases rapidly increasing and the recent move to phase 3 I thought it worthwhile giving you an update on what this means at Equilibrium Massage Therapy, for your safety and mine.

The clinic remains open with my usual infection control protocols in place and a few extra precautions. Please have a read through to find out more.

  • I am triple vaccinated against COVID-19

  • I can only see those with a valid vaccine pass and I use the MoH verify app to scan passes.

  • I can only accept valid exemptions from the MoH. Exemptions provided by NZDSOS or any individual health practitioner cannot be accepted.

  • I am required to follow government mandates for close contact businesses and guidelines from Massage New Zealand.

  • I can only see clients who are healthy and well and not showing any symptoms associated with COVID-19, a cold or any infectious condition – if you are unsure, please err on the side of caution and cancel your appointment, you are not charged for cancelling in this circumstance.

  • If you are awaiting a COVID-19 test result please cancel your appointment and reschedule once you know the result is negative. You won’t be charged for cancelling in this case.

  • As an extra precaution for my clinic, I would also ask that if you are a household member of someone who is awaiting a COVID-19 test, you cancel your appointment and reschedule once you know their result is negative. Again, you won’t be charged for cancelling in this situation.

  • The waiting room remains closed. I have a one in-one out policy to avoid client cross-over so waiting inside my premises is not possible for the meantime. Wait in your car or outside if arriving early.

  • Scanning in with QR code or manually signing in on arrival is still important – it gives you a record of where you have been and when, if you are required to complete an online contact tracing form

  • Use the hand sanitiser available when arriving and before leaving

  • Face masks are required for both myself and clients for the duration of the appointment

  • I sanitize, change all linen and ventilate the clinic room in between clients. I have a 30-minute buffer between appointments which enables me ample time for this. This is another reason why it is important clients don’t arrive ahead of time as it enables me to finish cleaning the room.

  • I self-screen each day, to ensure I am well enough to work. If I feel unwell be reassured that I take precautions and cancel my clinic bookings immediately if this happens.

  • I have ordered a supply of Rapid Antigen Tests so I will be able to test myself as needed once these arrive.

  • If I or anyone in my household tests positive I will be required to self-isolate for 10 days, so the clinic will be closed for that time and a full deep clean done before re-opening. I will let clients know ASAP if I have to cancel appointments for this reason.

If you are unsure about coming for an appointment, please do get in touch. Do what you need to, to take care of yourself. Where possible, if you can give me plenty of notice to cancel that enables me to make the vacant appointment available for others.

For those who are managing chronic pain and not able to make it to the clinic, I can work with you remotely to provide strategies and support on self-management. Get in touch if you'd like to find out more.

These are indeed uncertain and stressful times for us all. Keep well and stay connected.
