Exciting clinic changes in 2023!

As many of you will be aware, for the past four years I have been doing postgraduate study in pain and pain management. I finished my postgrad diploma this year and the next step is getting into the University of Otago Master's program in 2024. This is a field I am really passionate about and at the end of last year, I decided to focus my practice on the areas of chronic pain management, injury rehabilitation, and mental health with new clients I take on.

As my pain management knowledge and clinical skills have grown, my longer-term goal has been to provide pain management coaching, to help people living with chronic pain develop skills and strategies that help them feel, move, and live well.

I am excited to announce that I will now be offering pain management coaching in 2023! This new service will run on Mondays and Tuesdays and I will be able to see people both in-person and via Zoom sessions, which means I can see people located across the country who would benefit from the remote option.

If you, or someone you know would benefit from this new service, please get in touch with me. I will be taking both self-referrals and referrals from other health professionals e.g GPs and other primary care professionals, physiotherapists, specialists, other manual therapists etc.

This will mean some changes to my massage therapy clinic as I develop my pain management coaching service alongside it:

  • Massage clinic days will be Wednesday to Friday, 10am-6.30pm, with the monthly Saturday clinic becoming a ½ day, 9am-1.30pm

  • 30 and 45 minute massage appointments will no longer be available as my booking stats show that these as far less utilised than the 60 minute and longer appointments.

  • Massage therapy appointment priority will be given to regular clients and clients I see for chronic pain management, injury rehab and mental health needs.

I may need to tweak things along the way so will start with a 3-month trial period for the revised massage clinic hours. The revised massage therapy appointment template will be live and available for bookings shortly after Christmas.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank clients for your support over the past three years. It means such a lot to me in the mahi I do. This is yet another exciting development for my practice and I hope I can continue supporting you in your wellbeing – in whatever way that might be!

Ngā mihi and be well

Odette
