Christmas giving with Vinnies

This Christmas I've been inspired by some massage therapists in Ontario, Canada (Collete Slone and Frances Tregurtha) who are doing their bit to give something back to their communities at this time of the year. I am teaming up with Vinnies and am inviting my clients to contribute a grocery item towards a food parcel I am putting together. In return, every client who contributes will go in the draw to win a one hour massage from me. If you don't have a massage booked between now and 19th December, but would still like to give something and go in the draw for the massage voucher, just let me know and we can sort out an easy way for you to drop your item off to us. Alternatively, if you want to give but think that remembering to bring something might be difficult, you are welcome to add on an extra few dollars when paying for your massage and I will contribute an item or two on your behalf and put your name in the draw. The winner of the massage voucher will be announced on Friday 20th December.

Vinnies does an excellent job of helping people who are going through difficulties and this is a great way to help a great organisation help out people in need at this time of year, and you get the chance to win a massage from us! Their food bank is run by a choice-based model which means that when people come in to see them for food assistance they are given a list which allows them to choose the items they want or need. Vinnies have kindly provided me with a list of grocery items they are currently low on, but feel free to contribute what you are able :

  • Tinned fish

  • 2 minute noodles

  • Toilet rolls

  • Rice

  • Tinned tomatoes

  • Baked beans

  • Spaghetti

  • Deodorant

  • Shampoo & conditioner

  • Soup

  • Cleaning products

In case you didn't know, other services Vinnies run through their welfare hub in Newtown include:

  • A full-time social worker

  • Supported employment for people with intellectual disabilities

  • Access to free furniture, homeware and clothing

  • Clothing and bedding packs for new mums and their babies

  • Companionship to those in rest homes hospitals and isolated residencies

  • An inclusive and sustainable sewing studio providing meaningful activity for the community.
