Referrals can be via email/phone if that is most helpful, or by simply directing your patient/client to contact Equilibrium Massage Therapy directly - what ever method you believe is the most appropriate for your patient/client.  If you are unsure whether massage therapy is the most suitable treatment, Odette is happy to answer any questions you have before a referral is made.  For clients with chronic pain conditions, the Resources section provides useful information for health professionals.

You can also can find out more about massage therapy at the Massage New Zealand website - About Massage Therapy. The FAQ section answers a lot of common questions, including conditions that should be checked out with a GP before someone receives massage therapy.  This document - 5 Myths and Truths About Massage Therapy discusses some common misconceptions.  It is worth pointing out that the mechanisms by which massage therapy works are still not fully understood, however new research on related topics such as touch and it's effect on the central nervous system via skin contact continue to shed light on how massage therapy may work.

Equilibrium Massage Therapy is an approved Southern Cross Easy-claim provider which means that we can  submit electronic claims for massage therapy on a client's behalf, provided that their policy includes cover for massage therapy.
